What makes our brand sustainable?
Material
When selecting new fabrics, we buy ones such as organic cotton, non toxic bamboo, and mulberry silk. We make sure our fabric was dyed using natural pigments, and that there are no traces of micro plastic.
We buy dead stock fabric which otherwise would end up in waste fields. Although these materials are unpredictable, and often were made with synthetic fibers and toxic dyes, we believe the most eco friendly option is to not make more, but to use what is already available. Taking in fabrics that have been thrown away and repurposing them is a great solution to our waste problem.
Production
We are a “slow fashion” brand. What is slow fashion? As you can expect, the opposite of fast fashion. We create only enough to meet our demand, which takes longer in order to do pre- orders and only buy the material that we need. Although this process tests everyone’s patience, this drastically reduces waste. For example, over 30% of department items end up getting tossed into waste fields due to not getting sold.
Leftover fabric is used up for panties and smaller items-that way every part of our material gets used up with nothing to throw away!
Those who sew our clothes set their rates, and get paid a proper wage for their labor.
Shipping
Shipping anything is terrible for the environment. Unfortunately there are no eco friendly alternatives to getting packages across state, that is why we will always say support local makers. We offer a “local pickup” option for those living in seattle, and will continue to observe changes and think of ways to reduce this footprint.
Our shipment material is all recyclable, or compostable! If you receive a package from us, please note that even the tape is compostable. We ship in recyclable boxes or compostable mailers, the packing slip your clothes come in are compostable, the tape is compostable the tags are recyclable, the tissue is recyclable, and the care cards are recyclable. We will continue to update this with any changes to our process.
